We believe in round numbers and straightforward pricing. Our cost structure is transparent and straightforward.
Pricing tiers are primarily based on the number of calendar managers who will log in and manage campus calendars. Event submissions from your community are always unlimited.

Customization options
LiveWhale Calendar is designed for maximum design flexibility, and can be customized by your team or ours.
- We provide a basic responsive calendar along with the installation process.
- We provide an hour of theming instruction for your developers, allowing you to make a wide range of customizations in house; theming requires expert-level HTML and CSS knowledge but no programming skills.
- We can be engaged for light custom theming, to integrate the calendar with your site design; or for advanced custom theming to create a highly personalized user experience. We can also build custom back-end functionality as needed.
We can provide ballpark pricing for custom theming, but final estimates are typically prepared during onboarding, after a discussion of your needs.
Frequently asked questions
Are there any startup costs or setup fees?
There are a variety of custom code or design tasks that we undertake at the beginning of projects, like the following:
-
Integration with third-party platforms (EMS, EventBrite, payment gateways)
-
Custom training documentation, in-person training sessions
-
Advanced theming and design/functionality customization (front end or back end)
-
Advanced hosting package (additional storage/ bandwidth, dedicated RDS instance, SSH access)
Some of these features are included with the Medium or Large tiers, but all are available as add-ons at other levels.
Can we host the calendar on our own server?
It’s possible, but we discourage it. We provide a cloud hosting environment that’s carefully tuned to the needs of the product, and we can guarantee a more hassle-free experience if we’re hosting your calendar. You’ll have full access to the calendar code, just as you would if you hosted in-house. There is no discount for self-hosting, and it means you assume greater responsibility for outages and service requests.
Multi-year discounts
Although we don’t typically offer multi-year contract discounts, we’re willing to discuss if it’s important to your institutional budgeting. Let’s talk.
